Lens correction with non-supported lenses

Hi - New to Capture One. I have a lens that is not supported directly (Nikon 80-200 f2.8, plus others). Could anyone tell me if Capture One does some behind the scenes magic when designing lens presets or can you achieve the same end result by using the lens correction tools? Could that correction then be saved for future use on that lens?

  Magic or not, make manual lens adjustments is currently your only option. You can save adjustments in a preset.
  
  Oh, and about the magic. Lens profiles store a lot of information about the lens' behavior with different apertures and focal lengths (in case of a zoom lens) and apply the information according to the metadata of the image.
