my capture one catalog is becoming very large very quickly
Today I looked at the size of my Capture One Catalog file (*.cocatalog) and it has quadrupled in size over that last few weeks. Bu the amount of images I added to the catalog has not increased by the same amount here are the stats:
March 2016: 2803 images, 49GB of images, 600MB .cocatalog file size
April 2016: 4150 images, 74GB of images, 2,7 GB .cocatalog file size
June 2016: 5189 images, 90GB of images, 3,9 GB .cocatalog file size
Are those numbers normal? It seems that size of the .cocatalog file increases much quicker than the the amount of images and the amount GB for all files that are referenced by the .cocatalog file. Please note that there shouldn't be a single image file that is stored in directly in the catalog, there are all just referenced.

Seems normal to me. Previews take space. 0 -
When I backup the same cocatalog it becomes just 25MB. What is taking all that space? Just the previews? 0 -
Probably. I have 1170 pictures, and my catalog is 1.31 GB (1.25 GB of which are previews). 0 -

Yes. If you look at your backup catalog, you won't find the files .cop, i.e. the previews. Don't forget that these previews are rather large (depending however on your preferences), as they are used to work offline and to make most of the adjustments in C1.0
