Capture one pro 12.1 batch rename Bug
Mac OS Mojave 10.14.5
MacBook Pro Retina 15†late 2012, intel i7, 16 gigabytes RAM
I use batch rename tool Batch rename tool to rename photos with sequential numbers. The tool creates random sequences on file names after it was sorted by any method (we use date mostly because we shoot with 2 cameras but tried all just to troubleshoot). We have restarted the batch rename tool, the application, the Mac and created a new session but the problem persists. This is the first time that we have encountered this issue.
Example: We want to rename from Jobname-4385, Jobname-4386 to Jobname-4380, Jobname-4381 and this results to Jobname-4380, Jobname-100294. Cannot find any correlation to this number.
Batch Rename can only be applied to one, the first, picture otherwise pictures are renamed with random sequences with 5 or 6 digits even though we had set four digits.
Do you have any thoughts?
Thanks

Seems very random.
Are you using a Preset for the renaming or recreating the token based formula each time?

I don't use a preset, I define the token each time. 0 -
Do the numbers in your new names overlap with the numbers in the old names? I sometimes renumber (for similar reasons to you - two cameras) in two stages, for example I set the rename counter to 1001, 1002, etc, and then renumber them again to 0001, 0002, etc so that I don't get two files with the same name (one that has already been renamed and one that is waiting to be). The rename function is so fast that this is not much of a chore.

Thank you for your replies! I have tried your method @Ian3 in order to avoid duplicated numbers in the past and in the current situation. Unfortunately this is not the case for this problem. It’s so bizarre that I believe it’s some kind of bug. I am open to any suggestions. Thanks again for your feedback. 0 -
This might be related to a stuck application preference file. Try running the following command in Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) to clear out that  plist file:
defaults delete com.phaseone.captureone12
There won't be a confirmation that it's completed, though if something goes wrong it will notify you. This will also clear out the basic application cache and return Capture One to a “vanilla†state- all your custom settings, recipes, etc will remain, however they will be reset back to defaults.0 -

Ben, I am not quite sure what that means. I don't have custom settings, I don't think, but I have lots of recipes, keywords, crop ratios, and so on. What do you mean by them being reset to defaults?

Anything that is custom and currently selected in Capture One would be "unchosen"- for example, a custom workspace would be deselected and Default selected. It'd be like the first time you'd launched Capture One.
Recipes, keyboard shortcuts, basically anything that's in your App Support (~/Library/Application Support/Capture One) would remain untouched. Some things, like your batch renaming presets or crop ratios, would be wiped unfortunately as they're stored in the app plist that you'd be resetting.0
