PREFERENCE SETTING-CATALOG & SESSIONS OPEN IN NEW WINDOW

I have left unchecked the preference setting 'Catalog & Sessions - open in new window'. This is working OK on my MacBook Pro. However, I have the exact same setting on my iMac and C1 opens a new window for each catalog. I am running C1 Pro 7.1.3 on both machines. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

  This setting might also be stored in the catalog or session you open with a different behavior than expected.
  
  To remedy this, open the session/catalog, uncheck the setting again and save/close the session.
