Picture difference between v6 & v7
Hello,
this is a great forum and i´ve found a lot of answers to some questions i´ve got.
But i wonder about this:
I installed the demo of v7. If i export the same raw-file (the only edits i have done are kontrast, exposure and clarity) from Version 6 and than v7 there is a heavy difference between the two pictures.
I know the clarity, and "hdr" algorithms have been changed in v7, but why is there the "Version6 engine Mode" in v7 when they look different to the real Version 6? Or is there an error in my system?
Thank you so much!!!!

If you could create a support case and provide an example we would be very happy to have a closer look.
The Capture One 6 engine in Capture One 7 should provide the same results as Capture One 6.4.4.
Perhaps if the files in question are from a camera that we've updated in 6.4.4 over preliminary support in a previous version of 6, you are seeing this improvement or perhaps the camera used has had an update to firmware that we haven't accounted for. There could be a few different reasons for this so if we could have a look at an example with the RAW file we'd be very happy to investigate for you.0 -
Okay Drew thank you a lot.
I tried to export different pictures etc. and i noticed there was no difference, when i export smaller tiffs between the two version (6 and 7) of the same raw. So i tried it further and i think i could now repeat the error.
If i open Version 7.1 and edit for example a raw file: exposure = 1, Kontrast = 10, and clarity to 100 and than export to a new file
a) a full size file
b) a smaller version with fixed width 1024px for example
Both exported files do have a different amount of clarity after the export.
Do you now something about this or should i create a support case.0 -
Not sure I fully understand.
If you are processing one image to 100% it has a 1:1 relationship to what you work in in Capture One.
If you scale an image down you are compressing/scaling/dropping/etc pixels and values so the results would certainly look different and possibly "sharper". It depends on content and the process recipe.0 -
I don´t mean sharper, sorry. Its a little bit difficult for me to write accurate in english.
Both pictures have a different contrast after the export, similar to another setting of the "claritiy" slider.
I export two images from a testraw-file with the "clarity"-slider at 100. One in fullsize without any scaling.... and after that a second one with fixed size (1024px width).
Then i open both files in photoshop, bridge or any other imageviewer and the two pictures have a different contrast. I don´t mean the sharpness from the downscaling.
In v6 there is no difference in contrast between a full-size image export and a smaller one.

Thanks, for the further details.
Can you get us some examples and your recipes in a support case?0
