30 day grace period for upgrade?

I purchased Capture One 7 at the end of July, 2014. There were never any updates available until now, Version 8. I would have thought, having recently purchased Capture One 7, that Phaseone would have a reasonable policy that would provide free a free upgrade to recent purchases. But I've been informed by support that Phaseone only provides a 30 day grace period after a purchase for a free major upgrade. That seems very short to me, considering the price of the software.

  Not defending Phase One's pricing policies, but the upgrade price is only 69 Euros, which is pretty reasonable.
