Help! - Export loses luster, washed out

You're not going to get an exact match for your camera's preview jpeg out of Capture One, out of the box.

Time to start moving sliders around, Chak. There's nothing inherently "broken" about the Capture One conversions, they're just different - and there's nothing carved in stone to say that a camera manufacturer's idea of what an image should look like is the "right" answer.

    Hi Keith,

I've imported the raw into Capture One and worked the sliders to get the variant I like. But when I exported the variant to tiff or jpeg, the export loses luster and looks washed out.

I've even imported the export into Capture One to compare with the variant (on top):

I've tried different formats, ICC, Proof Files, resolutions but the output is still significantly different from its Capture One variant.

Seems like the 'Structure' setting under Clarity Adjustment of Capture One which gives the luster is not exported.

    Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

    Export or Process?

Export original will do just that - no processing added.

If you are sure you are exporting the variant WITH edits then something odd is happening.

Try running through a Process to produce the output file and see if that gives something different - it should be the same as export variant WITH edits.

However double check the settings you have in the Process Recipe and make sure your proof profile is set to be the same as the process recipe - you can set the proof to be Process Recipe as the default.

Apologies if you are already doing all of that - but if we don't check we can use a lot of time missing some basics that may be important.

    Thanks SFA.

Under View Proof Profile, I have checked Selected Recipe.
Under Output tab, I have selected the preset profile TIFF 16b aRGB, and processed the variant.

It's still the showing the same significant difference, particularly the lack of luster from the lights.
Comparing the Variant and its processed TIFF in Capture One:

It seems the Structure Clarity adjustments (creating the luster) are not well transferred to the TIFF.

It is frustrating that a screenshot of my variant looks way better than its TIFF export!

    Guys,

I think I've found the problem. Capture One's Fit To Screen preview may be way different from output. But at 100% preview, it is rather close to the output.

    Fit To Screen Comparison:

    100% Comparison:

This is rather inconvenient as previewing a raw 100% is really close up and only very big monitors/TV can fit fully at 100%. I hope they would fix this.

    Thanks for everyone's help!
