"Static" While Editing

I've run into this now and then, and am curious to know why it happens. While using the brush tool seems to be when it happens if it does, the image I'm working on look like static or electric snow. Seems more likely to occur while I have less free space on my hard disk. Can anyone answer this for me?

  This is a memory related issue. Typically related to OpenCL compatibility or resources.
  I would suggest turning Hardware Acceleration to "Never" in Capture One preferences.
