Large previews in the import dialog, I don't think so. Ability to check or uncheck pictures, yes.

Capture One's ingestion process is optimized for speed and efficiency. By default, none of the image files are "selected", but the default is to Import All. You can select individual or batches of images to import, but you don't need to "uncheck" them as you may need to with LR. In this way, it's easiest to download a whole card and edit out the keepers after the fact.

Surely Capture One also has both large previews and the option to check only some items for import, I must be missing something. Help please…

    TIA

If you have a large scale preview you are, n effect, importing the source file to you machine in order to have the large preview processed. Either that of reading the embedded jpg if you are working with RAW files.

Now, if you are working with a catalogue, and as you mention LightRoom you might well be working with a catalogue, it is probably worth knowing the are other options in Capture One based on its original Session concept. But that is only really worth considering if the sound reasoning offered by Ben does not appeal to you.
