First aid in this kind of problem is check the Batch tool tab. Are images to process placed in the queue and how is your process history: is it cleared recently?
A fresh preference file for a new version of CO might help as well.

Also its important to know which version of 4 you are coming from. As with older versions the Adjustments will need to be completely regenerated into the format of Capture One 5 which may take some time.

I also cannot process. It's grayed out unless I hold down the shift key, in which case, unreliably manage to process a single image at a time. Traditionally I browze to the folder with images they pop up, go to bottom right window and select all, select output folder, then hit process. In addition my version of Capture One 5.0 was crashing on me. I've since downloaded 5.1 but same issues. I've processed 100's of images in 5.0 and never had this problem. It's as if the software thinks I am reading the images off the DVD which disables the process until dumped into a folder. What's up with this? I am running this off a MacPro dual quad-core with 2 gigs of ram, OX 10.5.8

    Thanks,
    Brian

Have you deleted the preference file and cleaned the process history already? Are you aware of the "Edit All Selected Variants" switch and its status in 5.1 (see viewtopic.php?f=21&t=8398 for more details)? The Shift+Process sequence may not work properly in 5.1.
