This is one of the strange difference between Mac and PC. Mac fullscreen results in just the image on the screen, PC does not so you'll have to keep doing the Ctrl+T & Ctrl+B workaround.

Not being a Mac user I don't find it a pain.

I guess it depends what one is used to.

As a Surface user I talked about it some time ago and I agree that it is very annoying at least when you've got a small display and no keyboard connected. I also opened a support case and I think that anyone in our situation should do it to make PO understand that it's a useful feature to have on Windows too. This is a long term discrepancy between MacOS and Windows and I cannot understand where the problem lies. Other apps have autohiding panels so I don't think that Windows couldn't replicate this.

The functionality is described in the documentation so Phase One is well aware that this is a useful feature, irrespective of the operating system.

In a number of jurisdictions a company is legally obliged to remedy defects in their products, if not it must offer the customer a refund. I have to believe that Phase One acts in accordance with this.

There are a few instances where the Windows and Mac versions don't work quite the same, but they are very few now. Another one always used to be that on Windows the options for the tool bar (Text and icon / Icon only / Text only) didn't work and Phase One always said that this was the result of some quirk of the OS that prevented it working, not that they didn't want to make it work on Windows. I assume that they would implement the auto hide behaviour for Windows if they easily could - no reason not to, especially as they have made changes in the latest versions to bring the Windows and Mac versions together as much as possible. (For instance, things like Editing keyboard shortcuts now appear on the same menu for both versions.) I think it is unlikely that Phase One just don't want to make this work if it were a simple thing to do.

I sincerely doubt that there is an obligation on Phase One to align the Windows and Mac versions, it's an item on someone's wishlist. I'm not concerned about wishlist items, it's entirely up to Phase One if they will implement them.

But they are obliged to implement specified functionality, and they haven't in the case of auto-hiding the browser. The law does not care if said functionality is "easy" to implement or not, the company must deliver; no qualifications whatsoever. Yes, the law is hard-nosed, no soft music in the background. 😉

Why Phase One doesn't put a "Mac only" note on the description of the browser auto-hide functionality in the documention I cannot understand. It should be easy enough.

One problem is that every CO functionality is explained in the manual regardless of the operating system. I mean that differences are never pointed out and you have to discover them by yourself. It's well known by old users that they exist and I don't see them exactly as defects if they're related to OS capabilities or don't affect the use of CO. I knew the lack of auto hide feature and it has never been a real concern on a desktop or a laptop but having it would be of great benefit on a tablet-like PC. That doesn't seem enough to pretend a refund and I'm sure we could fill books with heavy product defects that have never been addressed with no implications or refunds of any kind.

I hope PO will address this thing soon or later (better soon than later).
