I use an I5 with 16gb of RAM and changes were in real time up until about a week ago, when suddenly it started taking a couple of seconds to render every time I moved a slider. I tried reducing the size of my previews, but it didn't help. Nothing significant changed with my system in that time, and updating to the newest release of C1 had no effect.

    NNN...691,

same camera model? Did you try adjusting an older image from the time C1 was fast?

Did you change hardware acceleration in the preferences?

btw, if the preview size is less than the resolution of the viewer window than each time something changes the raw file will be converted again in other words the preview file is rather useless, set it to the smalles number greater than the viewer width and height or to the screen resolution.

    Cheers
