Is it possible to split a catalog into multiple catalogs

After import? I want to import my Aperture catalog and then split it into multiple catalogs to separate different types of pictures i.e. family versus work versus photo experiments. How do I do that?

  In CO Pro 8 you can export any collection to a new CO catalog. How-to: File menu, Export as Catalog

  And if you already have them split as project, folder, ... in Aperture, then export them as separate libraries there.
  In Aperture you can export almost everything as a library.
  
  That's how I migrate now from Aperture to CO8. As the exporting/importing takes quiet a while, I do it in batches of 5.000 -10.000 images.
