Cache and settings 120?

i have a session which all of a sudden cant be opened or verified....i noticed that on top of the usual 'Capture One" folder (which contains the cache and settings 120 folders) in the Capture folder, there is a second one in the session folder?
trying to save this session and all settings...
my question is: where are the settings? are they in the session db file? are they in the settings 120 folder? according to C1 support they are in side car files? i cant see those or are those in the settings 120 folder?

  The "sidecar files" are the .cos files in the Settings 120 folder.

  and the proxies and thumbnails folders in the Cache folder will be re-written as long as the settings 120 folder and the session db file (and the original files of course) are in place and available?
