13.1.1.31 Pro Win ISSUE: Import to Session creates extra variant, splits source image adjustments and metadata.
This issue started with the 13.1.1.31 Pro Win upgrade.
I imported images from an external HDD staging folder that had been pre-edited with C1 (this and earlier versions). Import dialog options selected were: Exclude Duplicates, Include Existing Adjustments. In addition, a User Preset was specified to set contact and location metadata. Destination location was the session Capture folder.
After the import 2 variants for each photo were present: one contained the metadata from the preset but no edit adjustments; the other had the ranking and edit adjustments applied, no metadata.
Tests were performed using import dialog:
- Pre-edited and ranked photos; Include Existing Adjustments checkbox cleared; no presets. Result - the extra variants were created like before.
- Unedited, unranked images directly off a camera memory card; Include Existing Adjustments selected; no presets. Result - no extra variants were created.
This situation was observed for Nikon NEF and Fujifilm RAF files.
Unlike what has been reported in other posts in the forum, the unwanted variant could be deleted (Ctrl+Delete) without loss of the physical file. Metadata had to be restored in the remaining variant.
As mentioned at the top, prior to my installing the 13.1.1.31 upgrade, this issue was not encountered. Import in the 13.1.0.162 Pro Win version gave the correct result.
This issue needs to be fixed; it is a significant impact on workflow, particularly with importing edited files and complete sessions into catalogs. Please address ASAP.

Barry,
Where were you importing to?
A different session? Or the same session that you had previously used to edit on the external HDD?
But as Paul has said - if you want to take this up as a Technical Issue with C1 Support use the "Submit a request" function at the top of most of the Community pages and create a Support Case (as they used to be known).
