Opening C1 generated DNG files in ACR - profile issue with Sony Cameras
Hi, I work with a client who requests DNG files for them to then open in ACR - the problem is, the DNG files generated in C1 from ARW files (A7iii) look really flat and washed out compared to DNG's form other non-sony shooters who work for the same client - (I assume this to be down to a higher dynamic range form the A7iii..?)
So the client finds editing these images too time consuming, and rightly so, as there is no usable starting point. (it's the same principle as editing editing Log in video).
My presumption is that an ARW or any other camera specific RAW file will have a camera profile embedded into it for the software to read an give a usable base image, but the DNG exported form C1 does not have this embedded and because ACR has no profiles included, the image looks as described above.
Has anyone come across tis issue before? And anyone got a work around for this..? can you install profiles into ACR which will remedy this?
Thanks
Patrick

raw files do not have a profile embedded and c1 dng support is totally broken and unusable probably on purpose. the only workaround - use adobe software. most basic approach is the adobe dng converter but better use LR or ARC apply some basic adjustments and export.
