loosing Lightroom folders during migration

Got a new MB pro 16" and want to migrate my lightroom cc catalog with roughly 10.000 fotos to capture one. Images are organised by year and within this folders are "subfolders" with different events. I do not want to create lightroom catalogs for every "subfolder" as there are so many. Did a test with the year 2002, containing only 2 subfolders with 44 images combined. After importing the 2002 lightroom catalog I had a folder named 2002 with 44 images, but no subfolders, plus my color corrections were not included. This may be a different issue. Am I doing something wrong.
