I am not from Capture One, but I don't see why you would have to disable the licence and then re-enable. I think it will survive.

    Peter,

All Activation management is undertaken on-line.

Your configuration change will most likely present as a "new" device as far as license activation checks are concerned. In that case you will need to Activate on the "new device" anyway after making the changes.

If you have an License that permits multiple activations then you can simply activate using that key assuming you have not already used all the allowed activations.

To free up a previously used activation you can either de-activate from within Capture One before undertaking the updates or log in to your account on-line before or after the updates and de-activate to reclaim the obsolete activation and activate for the "new" device.

There is not much to choose between these options - both are relatively simple and easy activities.

This next observation probably does not apply in your case but I will add  it for completeness.

As I understand things if you have a device that does not or cannot regularly connect to the internet  - for example a laptop taken on a long trip where internet access may not be reliably available or simply a device that you do not regularly connect to the internet, C1 will assume that the Activation is allowable for 30 days of non-confirmation. I.E. if the device does not connect to the Activation Management server for up to 30 days C1 will still run.

After 30 days confirmation of the activation is expected. So connection to the Activation Management server is expected or some other method of confirming the activation would be required.

There are some Articles in the FAQ section of the Support pages that cover the options in detail and can be easily found using the Community Search facility.

    To summarize:

I think all you need to do is to make your upgrades and then see what happens.

I would anticipate you will simply need to re-Activate. Also probably de-active on-line record of the "old" device to reclaim the activation counter.

It will be easiest if you have the system on-line to do that but it can be done off-line if necessary. See the guidance in the articles mentioned above if you think you may need to activate off-line for some reason.

If you are still nervous having read the advice so far I would suggest contacting the Support Team directly, using the "Submit a request"  link at the top of most of the Community pages, in order to get official guidance from the official source.

    Enjoy the SSD!
