All images appear offline after copying the whole catalog to an external drive
On my iMac I copied the complete catalog folder (i.e. the folder that contains all the actual raw images as well as the Capture One files such as.the cocatalogdb file) to an extenal drive, so I can continue working on it on my Windows laptop). After I opened the cocatalogdb file in Capture One from that external drive using Capture One 20 on my Windows Laptop, all images appeared as "Offline" and I had to click "Locate" in the folders view. Because that drive is not the fastests and the folder contains a lot of images this took a very long time.
Why couldn't it locate the files I after I moved the whole folder? Doesn't it store a relative file path but an absolute one?
Is there a way I can improve the workflow I meantioned above. How can I keep Capture One Catalog self contained so I can move it whereever and whenever I want.

If you used 'Locate' in the Folders section of the Library tool, it suggests your images were not inside the catalog folder. Images that are inside the catalog folder do not have a folder in the Library but are stored in the Catalog item in that folder section.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Continuing on my assumption that your images are outside the catalog folder, but also on the external drive, the issue you have is that the path name is different between Windows and macOS in the catalog database.
I have not tested this again recently, but only images stored inside the catalog folder migrate without problems between platforms.
