Computer Occasionally Freezes when Capture On is Initiated

I am running a trail version of Capture One. On occasion, when I initiate CO the computer freezes requiring a manual power-off. Usually, after a power-on, I can initiate CO without an difficulties; however, after the last episode of this fault condition, I lost all of my prior work (chapters deleted and all files placed in the trash).

Now I am at a loss, I really like CO but if there is a chance all my work can end up in the trash I am hesitant to use it (purchase the product). I wrote a trouble report to CO, but yet to hear back from them.

I would appreciate any suggestions on either troubleshooting the problem and/ or saving my work in the event of a fault condition. I am using the latest version of Windows 10.
