Upgrade Capture One Pro 12 to Capture One Pro 21-previous settings
I am planning to upgrade my Capture One Pro 12 to Capture One Pro 21, but I’m not sure whether all my COP 12 settings, such as process recipes, will automatically transfer into the new COP 21, or will I have to set them all up again. Any advice please?

Hi Andrew,
Your settings and receipes should be transferred without any trouble.
In case you would prefer to secure them, you can first make a copy before upgrading. The presets are there:
(hidden) Library/Application Support/Capture One.

Andrew,
In general, your user-defined and appropriately saved settings will be carried forward on update or upgrade.
If you have made changes to, say, a standard C1 Workspace (or similar) and saved it under its original name it will likely be overwritten in any update. Always assign your own names to settings changes.
Some UI settings and past values for "as last used" are saved in dynamic locations and may it may not be possible to carry those forward so that, for example, if you reopen a catalog after an update it may not open exactly where you left it at last use.
Where there are significant functional changes some old settings may become obsolete - tool changes and tool grouping tabs for example.
There are not usually too many of them but some changes to any personalised settings may be beneficial and in rare instances are required.
You may find it useful to review the release notes for the updates between the V12 release you are running and the V21 release you intend to install.
