Import IPTC from Adobe Bridge XMP
Hi,
Is there a way of importing the information stored in the XMP file that I've created in Adobe Bridge into C1.22?
Last year I went through my entire photo collection using Adobe bridge, renaming, adding keywords and appending copyright information as I went along.
I created an IPTC template in AB, when I began using C1 and viewing the metadata I noticed that all the information was still in place.
I'm now trying to use C1 exclusively to organise my images. However, as I import new images into C1 they don't have any keyword or IPCT information which is to be expected.
Thing is it's not the keywording that the issue I would just like to reuse all the copyright information that stored on the AB XMP file so I can either apply it at import of apply it to a session of images after import.

Check out this article: https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002544898
I have mine set to "Load" so C1 loads the data in after I have added metadata via Photo Mechanic so should help the same with your data from Bridge.

If "Load" in preferences slows down the startup of C1 too much (because I think this load will be executed at startup, and maybe even at closing) then set it to "None" and load metadata manually, as described in the article.

I don't find any issue with slowness, It does run a background activity whilst it works through the files yes.

Sure you are running C1 on a Windows PC?

Hi ernst.w.,
I am on Mac, sorry what's the relevance of the OS to do with this question? Is it worse on Windows?

Is it worse on Windows?
More than that. Therefore in the support forums is a strict separation between Capture One for Mac and Capture One for Windows.
On a Windows PC the behaviour is as described in the start posting. And on a Windows PC on every start Capture One will first gather all metadata information, if you are on focus "All images", (slowly) rebuild all collections and so on before you can begin with your work seriously. This makes working difficult on catalogs containing more than a few thousand images.
I think most of us would have moved to Mac if possible. But there are a lot on licences that would be purchased a second time and for many programs no alternative on Mac exist. Aside from the costs of a new Mac.
Kind regards

Thanks, I think it's the same behaviour on mac it's just I have not used it with a larger number of images just smaller number numbers in a session so can see how this could be a problem even on a mac.
I guess once you have synced it once if it's just static work your & not changing the metadata you can switch the sync off after. (does cause some messing around I acknowledge)0 -
Maybe I was not clear enough.
First: It is a problem of catalog not one of sessions.
Second: turning off synchronization helps a bit, start on a Windows pc will take then a long time anyways.
Kind regards
