Crop Information in XMP sidecar file not recognized by C1 22 Pro 15.1.2.1

I'm having problems reading crop info from a raw sidecar file when a raw file (Cr2 or DNG) is imported into C1.  C1 recognizes the IPTC data, but not the crop information.  I've checked to make sure the crop data is in the XMP.

Also, when I make a crop in C1, and sync the metadata it doesn't write the crop data to the XMP file, but will write things such as color tag and rating. 

Is there a way to import crop data from an XMP or write crop data to an XMP.

  Capture One won't sync edit information with an XMP file, only metadata, as you have discovered.

  I'm wondering if there is any way to import crop data from the XMP, such as when using Photomechanic?
