Bring Mac laptop stuff into Windows desktop Catalog
I’ve been importing and editing photos on two machines, a Windows desktop and a Mac laptop. I messed up by using a different workflow on my Mac and now I would like to get all my Mac stuff onto the Windows machine using the Windows machine’s workflow.
The Windows desktop structure has one catalog with folder/file structure comprised of multiple folders that are named based on the date the photos were taken (i.e., YYYY-MM-DD). So, the folder/file structure is basically chronological in which every date that I have photos has its own folder.
The Mac laptop’s structure differs from the Windows desktop’s. The Mac has multiple sessions, and each session is comprised of one folder named after a timeframe (e.g., 2020 winter, 2021 autumn) or an event (e.g., Fishing trip, Road trip). Each session/folder contains photos that span multiple dates.
I would like to do the following:
- Incorporate the multiple Mac laptop sessions into the one Windows desktop catalog.
- Restructure the photos from the Mac laptop to be similar to the Windows desktop. In other words, place the photos into folders based on the dates they were taken.
- Maintain edits from each of the sessions.
- Delete the sessions so as not to be confused by them at a future date.
I realize this may be a multiple step process and there may be a number of ways to do this, and that’s okay. The less onerous and the less prone to errors, the better, although the priority is on being less prone to errors.
Thank you for any advice you can provide!
