Crashing Capture One.

I recently loaded the latest version of Capture One 22 Pro, version 15.2.077. I am running it on a nearly new iMac with an M chip and I've run the software on this computer before without a problem. Now it crashes or stalls out (spinning beach balls) with the Capture One not responding message when I quit the program in order to reboot it. I have tried everything I know how to do with no success. It's making me crazy enough to switch back to LR, (heaven forbid!), as I have an assignment for which I am on a tight deadline and I'm getting nowhere fast. Please help!
