Be very careful upgrading to V3
The software is full of bugs....
Crashing every few minutes.
Tags not showing after restart.
Not a working version yet.
Come on Capture One .... sort this out quickly.

You mean V15.3.0?
You haven't explained anything in your message about how to reproduce the crashes or bugs?
And you are having software problems you have reported them via a web ticket and provided the logs from C1 to help fix the issues you are having?

This version is completely buggy on new MacBook Pro. Impossible to import picture, crashed every 5 min... And now, I cannot downgrade my version because database changed... Block on this bad version.
-1 -
You haven't provided any details, I am running C1 15.3 on my MBP and haven't had any issues, so why not help by providing a way to reproduce the bugs you are experiencing.
In relation to the database change, C1 asks you to create a backup so unless you upgraded that as well you should be able to downgrade.

Please can you try this:
Back up your catalogues to another drive or folder
Go to: your username/Library/Application Support/Capture One/Image Core
and delete the contents of the folder
then
Go to:your username/Library/Caches and delete the folder(s) that's called com.captureone.xxxx
Reboot your computer and try C1 again, wait for the image core to update.
Lets see what the issue maybe, let me know how this goes

I too am having issues. When I tried to open my primary catalogue it said it was corrupted and I needed to run a repair on it. I tried that and it failed. I then went to the support pages on what to do with a corrupted database, and it too failed. I tried using a manually backed up copy and none of my manual backups, nor any of the C1 backups would work. They just stalled, which seems odd to me considering they are copies from prior to the new version. The only solution that worked was the last one on the list, and that was to create a new catalogue and import the old one. So I have the database back, but there are other strange behaviours. For example, when cropping, I select the area to be cropped, if I press enter, nothing happens, if I use a keyboard shortcut to switch to the hand tool, for example, nothing happens, as in the crop is not applied. But if I use the mouse pointer to select the hand tool, the crop gets applied.

Using MacOS Monterey
version 12.4
MacBook Pro 16inch 2021
64GB Ram
It continually crashes. Over 20 times now. Doesn't show tags in the browser when they show in the main window. Then you have to manually change it by choosing a different colour .. for example green then go to red to make it show. Crashes when you try to export an image. Totally unusable at this point. I am on a job and have had to go back to Capture 22 version 14.2.2.4

I have a feeling this issue might be between the Intel and M1 and the graphics engine?
0 -
This is a bit strange. Me and my colleges never experienced any of the reported issues or crashes. We are on Intel and M1, but there is one big difference - none of us is running a 64 Gb Ram Mac!
Perhaps this is an OS related problem???
Would be interesting what others can report.

James Grove, I tried your solution, but, same problem. Capture One is blocked and I must kill him.

Xavier, just one question: Does your Catalog updated without errors?
Kassur
0 -
Kassur, I think yes. Capture One updated my last Session too.
0 -
Ok. I downgraded to 15.2.2. Clean Library again.... Same problem
I created new catalog... Same problem
Now, impossible to use in any version...
1 -
I'm afraid that this is a problem that only C1 can solve :-(

Something isn't right here? I would back up your catalogues and I would use a program like Find Any File to look for any reference to CaptureOne using the Find All function and move it to a Temp Folder. The reboot and reinstall. This can't be just a C1 bug otherwise others would be experiencing the issues.

I experience a great loss of time and money. The upgrade to 15.3 on my Macbook Pro Catalina OS 10.15.7 leads to many distorted images in my collection. Very inconvenient, unprofessional and in fact unacceptable. No reaction from the company so far, where you would expect a swift reaction. A claim towards Capture One seems logical step. A preparation for a switch to other software is necessary. Business needs to go on!

A claim towards Capture One seems logical step.
Read your licence agreement. Capture One is completely protected from any losses (supposedly) caused by the use of their software, and you agreed to that when you signed up.
Or don't "professionals" read the small print? And what kind of "professional" lets himself get into a position like the one you describe anyway?
Is it remotely professional to go live with a new version of software in a production environment without sandboxing and testing it first?
And is it professional not to have a fall-back position like - oh, I don't know - the last working version?
So yeah - good luck with your claim...
🙄

Turn off hardware acceleration.

Jack, I am not sure what you plan to claim against? Any software you buy has a disclaimer! and if you are struggling that much then please explain how the issues can be replicated. As someone has already pointed out, disabling hardware acceleration tends to fix most graphics related issues. If your on a Windows system then I would suggest that something else is at play, given the wide variety of setups. If its a Mac then you have more options at your disposal to trouble shoot the issue.
Your claim is going to cost you a small fortune, so good luck with that... I'll sit and watch and eat popcorn

A claim will be difficult indeed. I now did read the small print. Hm. Of course I had a back-up. I needed to switch this weekend to other software, because downgrading of Capture One did not work and was actually impossible. Speeding down my Mac did not work. No reaction, no help from Capture one. I remember now what the concept service means. The brand has lost a lot of its credit, I must say. As professional I move on.

Jack you still haven’t explained what the issues are. Have you tried rebuilding previews?
0 -
I did send my information to Capture One with all screen prints. The previews are ok and look normal. A part of the pictures to be edited. They all look nomal. When clicking on the previews to be edited, they do load slowly and then show a part of the picture, or the complete picture with a gray zone on the left (25% of the picture) or are distorted with many lines. Not all, but I guess 50% of them.

Hi Jack,
As Keith mentioned - Hardware acceleration set to never? Could you please confirm?

I did not touch ever the acceleration button ever on my Mac. Where can I find this?
0 -
I just don’t see how the hardware acceleration is causing all the issues. Constantly crashing and what seems very like software bugs with tagging, cropping, previewing inconsistencies. Then corrupt libraries. I don’t think this version should ever have been allow to be released without greater testing to make sure this wasn’t released to professionals in the form. I have used Capture One since 1996 and I know they have realised versions before that have caused major problems. This is why I don’t immediately upgrade. But we pay a lot of money to constantly upgrade and I expect more from a company of this size.

Just a follow up on this issues I had, making a new catalogue and importing the corrupted one solved the catalogue corruption issue. However, I find it very strange that I couldn't open ANY of the backup copies that Capture One created or that I created manually using other software; some were slightly older copies). Although I am concerned that the repair process wouldn't fix whatever was wrong. The other strange behaviour I reported earlier, such as the cropping tool not working correctly, seems to have gone away. I assume a computer restart or something corrected that issue.
There are a few comments recommending not using hardware acceleration? I've always allowed it; what are the advantages and disadvantages of enabling/disabling it?
0 -
This is what happens. I choose a picture. It loads for edit in the first step unsharp and after that it creates a black band. Always at the same place.

Some of these issues are outside of my control, I have tried to offer some solutions, in relation to hardware acceleration, it has be known to cause graphics mishaps in the past and to some extent still does so, as I don't fully understand its exact workings, I can only offer advice that I have experienced, and that is disabling it, often revolves graphic related issues.
1 -
Hi Scott, glad that fixed the issue, this could have been a database error that wasn't recoverable.

I'm having issues with this version too now.
When filtering by keywords, Capture One becomes unresponsive all the time. If I click on a keyword in the Keywords section of the Filters tool, I get the result as empty frames, and then Capture One becomes unresponsive for about 15 seconds or more before the preview image shows up. If I delete the content of the Search field in the Filters tool by clicking on the x in a circle to the right, next to the ellipsis, Capture One becomes unresponsive again. If I scroll through the catalogue there's hardly any lag, previews are shown almost immediately, so the issue seems specific to the filtering function.
It makes no discernible difference whether hardware acceleration is on or off.

Same for me on both my iMacs. If I get it to load, once I start working on images I start getting beach balls. Very frustrating!!!
