transferring JPGs wth adjustments made
I make adjustments to my JPGs, but when I transfer them to a Facebook post, the original file without any adjustments appears. I was under the impression that adjustments I make are final until further adjustments to that image are made. I am wondering what I am doing wrong.

That is probably what you expect, but not what Capture One does. Capture One (and quite a few similar applications) are "non-destructive" in the sense that they keep adjustments separate from the image file, they do not overwrite the originals. Feeding the original file to a different application will and shall show you the original image.
The solution is to adjust and then process (export) the resulting image to a new image file where your edits are baked in. Publish the exported file.
