Previews not generating after Aperture Library Import?
Hello,
I have recently switched from Aperture to Capture One and have imported 10 Aperture Libraries totaling 100,000 photos. When scrolling through my library I'm seeing a highly pixelated preview for about 1/2 of a second before the image loads. I have toggled hardware acceleration on and off and it has made no difference.
My previews are set to the recommend size of 3840 for my 2021 MacBook Pro. I'm storing the catalog on the computers SSD which is very fast.
I suspect the problem might be that the previews have not been generated yet, because the Catalog file is very small, only about 5Gb, for 75,000 photos that were imported in the last few weeks.
I tried a test catalog of only about 1000 photos and the Capture One catalog was also about 5gb. For this library I tried smaller 1920x previews but it made it slower.
I also set the preview size to the highest value of 5120 for one of my projects, and regenerated previews for all of the files in the project, but it didn't fix this issue.
Any suggestions how to fix this?

I switched from Lightroom to Capture One a few years ago. I imported about 15,000 pictures at this time. It took a full night to generate the previews. I have now about 28,000 images, and my catalog takes about 52 GB.

When I switched from Aperture to Capture One Pro 7, it took about a day to convert my library of ~40k images. That was a long time ago and computers are faster now, but so are the previews you're generating. For the number of images you have, it might still take a day or 2 to generate previews. Leave your computer on and give it lots of time.
If you haven't already, turn the Activity window on and C1 will display its progress; that could help you.
