I have the same issue – see this thread.
I've been in contact with support about it for two months, but so far no help.

@Werner Mäder
Do you use sessions or a catalogue? If a catalogue, how many images does it contain?
@Bernhard Mutter
The 15.3.2 update made no difference in my case. My impression is that the issue is with Capture One's handling of larger catalogues.

Thomas, I usually do not copy my images into the catalogue. Instead I have them on an external SSD and rerference them within CO.
Thus my catalogue doesn't grow that much. In my actual catalogue contains about 12000 images (sizes 24, 42 and 61 MP) and everything runs smothly so far.
Maybe I should create a catalogue with all this images copied to it ...

I keep my image files on an external hard drive too, not inside the catalogue. I have the same issues with unresponsiveness when the referenced image files are offline, so the issue doesn't seem to be connected to Capture One having to read from an external drive, and I doubt that it would make any difference if the images were stored inside the catalogue. As a test, I've tried creating a new, small catalogue, and Capture One had no trouble handling that, so I assume the problem is Capture One's handling of larger catalogues (mine currently contains around 54,000 images).

I store my pictures on an external SSD-Drive connected with USB-C. This connection is very fast. And as i create a new catalogue every year, my actual catalogue has only about 1'200 pictures.

1200 really isn't very big, so perhaps it doesn't have to do with the catalogue. As you've probably seen, other users have complained about performance issues on M1 Macs too; I assume it could be related.

I have a MacBook Pro M1 14" with 32 GB RAM, and Capture One manage my catalogue (27,000 referenced images on an external SSD) and every process/adjustment without any issue. Do you have many other softwares open when you observe this slow performance ?

In the initial post it says that Activity Monitor shows no unusual consumption of resources. I don't see that either. And here it makes no difference how many other applications are open, Capture One is equally unresponsive when it's the only open application.
