Every second brush stroke fails

I have a strange brush bug on Capture One 23 on a current Mac Studio, which is still on Monterey. Every second brush stroke doesn't get applied until I release the mouse button. The stroke is being recorded correctly and it's applied immediately as soon as I release the button, so it's not a lag issue. It's just not being drawn while I am brushing. If mask visibility is on the mask stroke appears after I release the button, and if it's off then the effect of the brush stroke appears after I release the button.

This is making working with the brush really difficult, because I have to click on every second stroke, which also applies a stroke. I also have an XP Pen tablet, and the problem is exactly the same there as well: Failure on every second stroke. 

I contacted support on this and they went through all the standard things: Changing the acceleration options (no change under any setting combination) and also resetting everything (also no change). They said they would pass my report and screen videos on to the developers for further examination, but since then there has been total silence.

Has anyone else experienced this and possibly found a solution or workaround? It's making C1 almost impossible to use.
