Capture One 23 Is Unbearably Sluggish and Unresponsive on Windows 11
I recently bought the one-time version of Capture One 23 to get support for a new camera. I had been using a previous release with no issues. With the same desk-top computer as before, Capture One 23 is incredibly sluggish and frequently unresponsive to inputs. Exporting a jpeg from RAW takes MINUTES, rather than seconds that it used to take with RAWs from the same camera. I feel that I wasted my money. What happened to Capture One 23 to ruin it? Or is there some obscure setting that will restore reasonable operation?

I have the same issue on my Windows 11 desktop computer. Sluggish and unresponsive doesn't begin to describe it. The program quits for no obvious reason, refuses to backup catalogs, freezes on simple tasks like file handling or moving and renaming files and folders, tasks that are supposed to be done from inside Capture One (as David Grover says in his live streams). Running Capture One on my laptop, however, inspires much more confidence. Clearly, the issue lies in the way it was installed.... So I asked the help desk agent for instructions on how to better install Capture one on my desktop, after I deactivated and uninstalled the program. Got a general answer with so called solutions, but that was not clear enough for me. For 4 days I didn't get any response to these questions. Frustrated and beginning to get annoyed!!! Does anyone from the community know what to look out for when installing this software???

Thanks very much for these tips. I have reinstalled Capture One just now and checked C:/users/myusername/AppData/Local/CaptureOne . I am keeping an eye on Task Manager and it seems to do alright . Backups are being performed, switching catalogs is no longer a question of minutes and in the background Capture One only takes up a very small percentage (under 1%) of CPU when I am doing nothing. I have not had the question about sidecar files yet, but since it is now a 'fresh install' there's no need for upgrading catalogs.. Hardware acceleration is set back to 'auto' . I will leave it on for the moment and see how the program performs.
Hope my troubles are over. But .... I will certainly keep paying attention to this in the near future.
