Trouble with Importing pictures into Capture One 23

I recently upgraded to C 1 v 23 and am not having success importing pictures into the program. I thought I understood how to designate a path that the imports would travel to get to a new folder that I named when making a new session but every time I do an import the pictures do not go to the new session capture folder that I set up. Instead the pictures go to a session favorite folder that is not in the path that I set up for them to import to. 

Also when viewing photos in the browser I used to select the photos I wanted to import in v 21 by selecting them with a check mark on the photos - now in order to import the photos from the browser I have to "select all" in v 23 so I must have a setting that needs to be reset.
