Similar requests have been made several times before, but it appears they've all been removed – perhaps by mistake as it's usually only duplicate requests that are removed?

Good idea! I've made a related request here: If no catalogue/session was open when Capture One was closed, it shouldn't open one next time it's launched (Mac).

Considering the company's very apparent lack of interest in improving anything that has to do with metadata or with Capture One's poor handling of catalogues, AI assisted metadata seems quite far off.

Thanks. The issue appears to be independent of version – I have it with 16.3 and have had it with the previous versions too. Though only with larger catalogues, with small catalogues I see no unres...

23 refers to the year, while 16.x.x is the software version. It is a little confusing. In the release notes, the software version is in parenthesis: "Capture One 23 (16.2.5) release notes".

It's not as though Capture One doesn't have its disadvantages; the new licensing model is just one of them. Just as going back to Lightroom is a compromise, so is sticking with Capture One.
