I found this topic searching on Google. I'm in the same situation, but with Windows version. DNGs v4.6 work, but I'll never convert thousand of photos to an older version. I'll ask to support.

Exposure control more than +/- 2.5 stops
I whish I could compensate exposure more than 2.5 stops, as often I shoot raw at base ISO and recover in post production (I get better highlights).Best regards.

Thanks. I gave EIP a try and it seems to just pack files without any compression. Btw I think you're right enough in regards of data safety, so leaving the file as they are is the best thing.
