Could we have a tutorial on keywording?
I'd value an in-depth look at the use of keywords in Capture One. I know how to set up keyword libraries, and how to create and apply hierarchical keywords. But what I find difficult is how to use the keywords to retrieve images when I want them. So for instance I take a lot of nature and wildlife photos, and I have applied keywords to them tagging them with the species name. So I might have images taken on different occasions over several years tagged with the keywords insect>butterfly>spotted wood butterfly, for example. My difficulty is using the filter tool to find those images again when I want them.
It was easier in Media Pro, because you could apply and filter keywords in the same tool. But in Capture One, you apply the keywords in one tool, and you filter them in another, where they are not found in the same logical layout at all.
I think the keywording facility in Capture One needs improving, but for now I would value a tutorial or webinar on how to get the best out of the existing system. (And one based on a catalog with a lot of images in it! It would be easy enough for a catalog with a small number of images and keywords, but what I need to understand is how to cope when there are thousands of keywords and tens of thousands of images.)

Hi Ian,
I just added the following comment to your 3yr old question about searching for key words across sessions:
I don't know if you are still following this thread, but I just came across it while searching for a cross-session search solution, as I am new to C1. The thread got me to thinking, and so I did a little digging. The keywords are stored in xml in the .cos files for each image (and perhaps in the CO session db files, but that isn't relevant to searching for individual image files). As a proof of concept, I found that my goto editor (UltraEdit) could find and list files with a keyword. I couldn't get Mac finder to do the same, unfortunately. However a search on the web turned up a free search utility, EasyFind, by Devon Technologies. Setting to search for .cos files and pointing it to the top of my Sessions folder tree and searching for the keyword "Leider Park", it found all the images, so tagged. See attached screen shot. Perhaps this would be helpful to you.
Regards,
Dean
