Is there a way to add a shortcut to go quickly from unconstrained to square cropping? thanks.

    Yes. in the newest versions you can set up keyboard shortcuts for crop ratios. 

    Add Crop Aspect Ratio in the first column, choose the ratio you want to add a shortcut for in the second column, and type in the shortcut you want to use for it in the third column.
