Adding a new session folder and renaming existing ones
The four existing session folders don't correspond with my workflow, so I would like to change their names and add a fifth folder. I know that I can add and rename folders in Finder, but that's not where I process my pictures. I need the extra folder and the new names inside the session. How will I go about that? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Have you already read the information available in the User Guide (various sections may be of interest).
Also checked the Tutorial videos available and perhaps a couple of the Webinar videos that cover things like catalogs and sessions?
One could write several chapters of a book about the very open and wide subject that your question suggests.
It would be useful to know how much you may already understand before starting such a task.
Also this may help.

There is one previous blog and also a later blog in this series. Both are linked from this article.
Yes you can rename the folders if you wish and add more folders.
Remember that the 4 default folders C1 adds to save time (a form of session template - you can create your own templates) also have some functions available that use the same "names" - especially the Selects and Trash functions but are not limited to pointing only to their namesake folders. If it really makes a difference to the way you work you can point them anywhere you like or just ignore the functions completely.0 -
My question was actually very precise and to the point. I need a fifth (5th) folder in the sessions section on top. The folder needs to reside there, show there and be accessible there, not somewhere else.
I also need to be able to rename the folders in the sessions section, so the names show in the sessions section, not somewhere else.
Adding folders as needed appears not to be possible. I can add subfolders to the existing session folders, but those subfolders show and are accessible only in the system folders section at the bottom, not in the sessions section where they need to be for a smooth, non-confusing workflow.0 -
The Session Folders section of the Library lists the "Virtual" folders links to whatever folders you choose. These also have Keyboard Shortcuts available.
However there is nothing available in the virtual options that allows you to point to a fifth folder (unless that is also one of the other folders to with Capture, Selects, Output and Trash already point.
If your process is totally tied in to the use of Folder names then you may need to make any folders you create a "Favourite" and work with a different section of the Library Options.
Or use the Smart Album functionality perhaps.
C1 has a lot of flexibility to suit many preferred workflows but not always in the way that one might be used to, at least at first sight.
The challenge for anyone offering to help you with that apparent mismatch is that they would very likely need to understand your process needs quite well to be able to suggest anything that you might find acceptable.
On that basis your question, as presented, lacks the content required to make a proposal that might be effective for you should you be prepared to consider such an option.
HTH.
