Merge a session into a catalog?
Hi
I have just bought Capture One Pro. I expect to be working on my main Mac in Catalog mode. But if I'm working away from home I'll use a Macbook.
What's the best way to import and adjust images on the Macbook, and then when I get home move that work – images and adjustments - into the main catalog on my iMac?
If it helps to understand what I'd like to do, I came from Aperture. In Aperture I would open a new Project on the Macbook, and then when I got home, 'export project as new Library' to my iMac, and then 'merge Library' to get that project into my main Library.
Many thanks
Paul

Paul,
If I were you I would use a session on the portable device and make sure I was using it in such a way that it is self contained - in other words with all of the folders you feel you need to structure contained with a single top level folder such as the default "Capture" folder created by C1.
That means you can work on the session in a self contained way while on the road.
Back at base copy the entire session structure from the mobile device to the "office" device. You can run sessions and catalogues side by side.
Open the appropriate catalogue to which you wish to add the contents of the newly available session. From the File menu in the catalogue import the session including adjustments already made.
That is the basic theory. It's easy to test if you create a test catalogue and try it out. You will still have the session so you can trash the test catalogue when you are happy with how things work.
I don't use catalogues much so I have not checked in too much detail but I'm fairly sure there are a couple of videos on the Phase YouTube channel that cover this. The link below also covers the subject of importing to a catalogue. It's related to Version 8 but as far as I know the principles are the same in version 9 with the possibility that there are one or two additional options to consider following V9 enhancements although, as a non-user of catalogues, I can't be sure whether there is anything significant to your requirements.

Thanks for taking the trouble. I'll create a session over the coming days' shooting and try to being it into my catalog when I return.
