Cog wheel on thumbnails after procession how to remove?

I have processed a few images and after that the thumbnails for the corresponding images get a cog wheel added to the lower right corner. When I delete the processed output, the cog wheels on the images remain, although they should be removed, because the processed version doesn't exists anymore.

How can I get rid of the cog wheel on the thumbnail?

    Image >> Process History >> Clear From Selected will clear the Processed history and thereby remove the cog. Keep in mind that in CO the processed cog is not meant to indicate solely if a variant has been created (i.e. virtual copy in Lightroom). The cog indicator lets you know that some processing has been done be it a variant, print, export etc. It is an indicator just like the edited icon.
