Can't make selects by pressing numbers

I'm using Capture One 6 and can't make selects by pressing a #. Am I missing something?

  Tip: first click with your mouse on a thumbnail to assure the cursor focus is on the thumbnail. Next, press a number from 1 to 5 to set a star rating for the image or selection of images.
