Auto Browser Mode

Just trying out Auto Browser Mode and just wanted to check I've not missed a setting. When I have the tools pane on the left, viewer window in the centre and the browser pane (permanently) showing to the right I can edit an image with say crop, return to Hand mode and then press the down arrow to move onto the next image - all well and good. However if I set the browser pane to Auto I can no longer advance through the images, I'm guessing because it is no longer an active window.

Does anyone have a solution to this?
