capture 5 trial startup crash

I have tried to start my trial 5.1.1 and the program crashes on startup.
I have read and acted on the advice to update to the latest dot net which is 4 , the one installed previously is 3.5.
I have removed user log.db and captureone col.50, I have uninstalled capture one 5 for Win XP and manually removed left over folders. I cannot get the program to start as it gives error messages "Capture one has encountered an error and needs to close" and "imgcoresocket error the operation completed sucessfully"
Help please

Win XP sp3 and all updates 4core 2.4gz 4gb memory

  But do you still have .NET Framework 3.5 with SP1 installed? And earlier versions like 2.0 and 3.0 with their respective service packs?

  Yes and I repaired it according to instructions, Windows update has this morning added an update to .NET 1.1 but still same startup issue.
  To be precise I have
  .NET framework 1.1
  .NET framework 2.0 sp2
  .NET framework 3.0 sp2
  .NET framework 3.5 sp2
  .NET framework 4 client profile
  all visible under currently installed programs

  Create a support case and provide some more specifics of the machine in question. The same has happened to me after a bit if experimental troubleshooting, the solution was a permissions adjustment and reinstall of the software to a new directory. Just a suggestion, but with it only happening to me once I can't give anything more than that. A support case will get to the root of the issue faster.
