Updating to C1 7 from C1 3.7.9
We are preparing to upgrade to C1 7 from C1 3.7.9. C1 3 has performed very well for us and wouldn't be upgrading unless new equipment (cameras) require it. (C1 3 has gotten buggy after recent OS upgrade.) I shoot with a P25+ and a recently purchased Canon 5D MIII. Can this jump from 3 to 7 be done without intermediate upgrades? Our computer equipment is older and reaching the limit of its OS upgrades. Would it be better to upgrade to C1 6 instead? If possible I'd rather go to the max,(C1 7) to make use of all the newest tools. This will probably be the last C1 upgrade this equipment gets. Laptop is a 17" Mac Book Pro 2.4 GHZ, about to upgrade to 4Gb ram, running OS 10.6.8, and our desktop is a similar vintage (2007) Intel G5, 4Gb ram, running 10.6.8. Thanks!

When you upgrade to CO7, you can use the new license key for all intermediate versions, if you prefer one (temporarily). So that issue is covered.
The Mac G5 is out of order. Only 64-bits Intel Macs are in charge for CO7. Your 17" MacBook Pro does not give you sufficient performance for CO7. It can work (I have a similar system) but the eagle does not fly very well. CO6 is better suited for this system and CO Pro 6.4.5 does the 5D mkIII as well.
OS X 10.6.8 is still compatible for CO7, but a later version is advised (with more recent hardware) so that is not a serious issue. There are still some Snow Leopard lovers around here, so you won't be alone. 😉0 -
Thank you Paul. With that information in hand I think C1 6 sounds like the best answer for us. I appreciate your help, it no doubt saved me a lot of hassle.
Best,
