Advice on moving to new PC

    David,

While often misunderstood, it is quite elementary and should never take more than 5 minutes time. If however you have activated multiple times in a short period, you will receive a message stating Activation Limit Exceeded. This means you already have 2 different computers activated. Never fear, creating a Support Case with your Product Key and/or the email used for the Profile doing the activating will get you assistance.
Users are always entitled to the allowed 2 activations and allowances are made for New, crashed, or reformatted machines.

You have the choice of doing an Online or Offline/Manual Activation. Online requires login to User Profile. Each install on a computer must go through the described activation process. All activations begin with the Product Key. Each machine will give you a Registration Key which must be delivered to Phase One in return for an Activation Key to be entered into the software.

Product Key = 4 x 4 alpha numeric characters - you were issued from original purchase
Registration Key = 4 x 6 alpha numeric characters - newly created on machine being activated
    Activation Key = 4 x 6 alpha numeric characters - issued by P1

    Thanks for that

So all I actually need to take with me to the new PC (the old one is going to my son, who is 6 and therefore won't need C1 just yet) is my original Product Key, the one you gave me when I purchased the upgrade?

The rest is generated during the activation process?

    Thanks again

    David,

Exactly - just the 4x4 Alpha-Numeric Product Key, all activations begin with this key.

Uninstall from your Son's machine, we can reset this activation; and you will have the 2nd activation for future New machine.

    Sincerely,

Ah-Ha, now that is what I needed to know, if I uninstall from my old pc (using Add/remove programs in control panel) how will you know??

When you say 'reset this activation' what does it mean?

Will I need my old pc to still be internet enabled when I unistall?

This is the kind of info I need

    Thanks again

    David,

We will know, because you will Create a Support Case informing us that you need a new machine activated and you have uninstalled from old one.

Old machine does not have to be connected to internet.

So I have to notify you before I can move to a new machine?

This is exactly why I posted this, it is now far more confusing than when I started.

Not only do I appear to need my original code (which is fine, I have that) I have to create a support case just to move to a new PC? geees!!!

Once and for all, as I originally asked, can you please explain the procedure from beginning to end and where I would need an internet connection????

    Thank you

    Install on new machine if
    A) you then successfully activate the software All IS Well.
...if B) you get a message that your Activations Limit Exceeded..
then create a Support Case, so that 1 of your activations can be reset.

And Yes, you do have to keep track of your Product Key,
