iphoto CR2 files - Capture One?
I have just upgraded to a new Macbook Pro 15" (i7) running Mac OS X 10.6.5. On my last MBP this workflow functioned perfectly so before anyone stabs at format compatibility in terms of imaging software and camera format - not an option.
My workflow previously consisted of shooting RAW with my Canon 5D MKII (CR2 & JPG) importing into iphoto, use iphoto to preview and delete unwanted files etc etc and any files I wanted to work further on I would select the option via preferences in iphoto to "edit in an application". Upon double clicking of any existing CR2 file would Capture One (version 5.2.1) open and the photo(s) (plus others in the same series) would appear in my Capture One software ready for work).
When I try and do this now Capture One will only recognise the JPG's and not the CR2 files.
If I try and export the CR2 files as original files to my desktop from iphoto and import them that way than Capture One will still have them greyed out as a relevant file for import.
Drop and drag does not work either.
Anu ideas?

First, thanks for posting because I never tried the iPhoto - Capture One integration. I decided to try. And it works! But there is a iPhoto preference setting to set you did not mention (iPhoto 8.1.2): Advanced tab, RAW photos: Use RAW when using external editor (check the box). If you do not check this, iPhoto will link a JPG file to Capture One.
I could open a 5D mkII CR2 file in CO5 (5.1.2) by right-clicking in iPhoto and select Edit in External Editor. CO5 is configured as the editor in preferences as you explained. You can make this a double-click action too. When I did an export (kind: original) from iPhoto I could open and edit the raw file in CO5. Dragging the raw file from the iPhoto library to the CO5 icon in the dock transferred the JPG file (created by iPhoto, not imported in its library by me), not the raw file.
I am on 10.5.8. Did you use this on your previous Mac too or where you on 10.6.x already back then?0 -

I was using the previous Mac OS on my last machine and I think that preference didn't exist.
I must say... I don't really like the look and feel of the latest iphoto. It's becoming more and more basic.

I am using the previous version of OS X (10.5.8) and the previous version of iPhoto (8.x of iLife 09). Anyway, it seems to be working with 10.6 and iLife 2011 (iPhoto 9.x I assume). Good to know.0
