sorry, nobody seems to give answer... ☹️
maybe second question. How much RAM can Capture One in current version use on computer with 32 or 64 Bit system?
Capture One, Lightroom and Photoshop are my main tools used on computer. So thinking about what a new laptop need for quick workflow...
Thanks + Best, Walter0 -
Hi Walter,
To get back to your 10-bit graphics support question, it is maybe due to its rather specialized nature that your post was not flooded with replies. I went through the pdf you linked and got the impression that support for the 10-bit system is coming from ATI, not Adobe (in the case of PS CS4 & CS5) or a software manufacturer like Phase One. That would make sense as long as the solution is still proprietary to ATI. Because Windows applications never address the hardware directly but always through Windows calls - in contrast to MS-DOS, if you are old enough to remember - it is a bit strange that hardware running under Windows needs explicit support from applications.
As described in the PDF you need a wide-gamut monitor to take any benefit of this system - the whole concept makes perfect sense to me - but a laptop would not be the first place to look for such solution (I understand HP's effort with its IPS panel in pursuing that goal, but still question the effort due to a laptops screens limitation for flatness etc.). My 2 cts.
Regarding your memory question, this again is fixed by the operating system (32- or 64-bit OS) in the first place. CO5 is a Win32 application which are restricted to a 4 GB address space, of which 2 GB is available for the application. However, you can still benefit from a 64-bit OS with > 4 GB RAM when you also have other applications running concurrently. See a recent discussion here:
