Spinnig Wheel

I tried to set up folder watching ( C1's Select & Output) in Media Pro. Unfortunately the coloured spinnig wheel does not stop. What can I do to rectify the problem. Whenever I disconnect the external hard disk all back to normal.
I run disk utility allready with no success. K
