    Andrew Mckenna,

You will use the Browse feature to load new Sessions.
    C:\\Program Files\\Phase One\\Capture One LE \\ Captures\\ and make a new folder here.
Load images into this Folder in Capture One the Browse to and select this Folder >Refresh folder icon > and then Insert current folder as permanent collection

1> There is not limit to the Batch size with LE. However, there is only one file type that can be created at a time. With PRO you can output 3 different file types, i.e. Low Quality JPEG, High Quality JPEG, High TIFF file all at the same time.

2> the 1Ds does not have a orientation sensor so you would use the rotate icon or keystroke Ctrl + R to rotate your portrait images. They can all be selected and rotated together.

3> The best advice to offer here is to Keep It Simple.
The best setting to have established at the Process tab is to the Set Process Folder… and check the Always process images to associated image folderWith this box checked, a folder name Develops is created within the Session folder along with the RAW images.
Creating a new Process to folder for every Session can become a convoluted mess and makes the file handling by Windows much more complicated than it has to be.

The simple fact about Windows platform is that it is best to keep the Process to location consistent, while the Mac can handle changing a location often without issue. By checking the box to Always process images to associated image folder accomplishes this consistency well. Once processed, without error or crashing I might add, the folder can be renamed, copied or moved to new location with a little File Management.

    Other advantages:
    • Shoot Tethered with your Canon
    • Color Editor to create your own custom profiles
    • CMYK output
    • Cross platform for Mac and Windows
    • Arbitrary rotation
    • Interpolation up to 250%

Don't forget the 30-Day Free Trial of PRO as well.

    Cheers,
    kc

    Hi kc

I appreciate your reply, but would like to further explain my current workflow, prior to making the decision to use PhaseOne (very likely)

I have a network of one Mac and one PC, and each has two external Firewire drives.

I have one Firewire on the PC with a folder named \"Picture Library\" and in here are many folders named by subject, which allows Extensis Portfolio to catalogue automatically, so any photos of \"Ben Nevis\" are placed in this folder and Portfolio watches this folder for new pics and catalogues all new images.

So I need to set PhaseOne to always use this one particular Firewire drive, but ideally I want to put new customer jobs into a new folder within the \"customers\" folder, or new Ben Nevis pics in the Ben Nevis folder. I have a RAW folder in the subject folder, and will now create a \"tiff\" folder, which I want PhaseOne to process to.

I've got PhaseOne doing this right now as I write. The only thing I might do is buy a new Firewire and use this with the mac, which might speed up the processing, which I think is very slow, but my network isn't slow. Is 2-3 minutes per 11Mb RAW image reasonable?

I have PhaseOne installed on the Mac. Processing thousands of different images into a default folder is fine, but how do you catalogue these...?

    Andrew
