Canon 5D Mark II and Capture One Pro
Hi there,
I just bought the Canon 5D Mark II, and I currently have a Mac 10.4.11 with 2x2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon and 3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM.
I also have Capture One Pro 3.7. I was given Capture One 4 with the camera. It's not the pro version. What do I need to do to be able to start processing my images. I also only use Adobe Photoshop CS. I'm not great with the technical end of installing software etc...
Do I install the Capture One 4? Do I need to buy Capture One 4 PRO? Will that be compatible with my operating system.
Thank you,
Jen

With your new camera comes some installation as well to be able to use it with Capture One (which you desperately want, of course 😉). Fortunately, you have the right tools in your hand, almost.
To be able to process the Canon 5D Mk II raw files, you need CO4. You best download the latest version from the Phase One web site because 5D Mk II support was only recently added in CO4. You do not need PRO, unless you want to use it tethered (connect with USB cable). Note that your CO3 license might be valid for a free upgrade to CO4 as well, so you have probably 2 valid CO4 licenses.
CO4 likes Intel Macs and it likes OS X 10.5 Leopard. Since you are still running Tiger, you best upgrade that too. Although OS X 10.6 is around the corner for release (September 2009) getting OS X 10.5 now is a good investment (bugs are ironed out and Apple introduced a strong reduced upgrade prices for 10.5 users to 10.6 of US$29 versus $129).0
