Batch delete slow

I've finished editing a wedding with 1400 images. I've sorted them according to rating and want to delete all but the keepers.

If I try to delete more than 20-30 at a time it takes an interminable amount of time. I'd like to do 700 deletes and get those raw deleted quickly as I did in LR.

I'm clicking option/trashcan after selecting the deletes. Is there any way to speed up this process?
